and thus, it begins (again)
August 13, 2009

so here is the part where i stay in san francisco, despite a very reasonable and amazing plan to return to austin. here’s the part where i feel that i will regret leaving this city just as i really feel that i am getting to know it. without the 2 hour commute to a shitty job and a boyfriend that occupies at least a minimal amount of my time. here is the part where i scare the shit out of myself because i quit my job a month ago and don’t, yet, have another one!
but here is also the part where i really do try as hard as i can, with all of the creative energy in my body, and all of the ambitious determination i can muster, to find my way here in san francisco. i will push until i run out of money or energy. (and then i will push a little more). and then we will see what happens.
now is not the time to stay still. now is the time to climb to the top of the tower.

my new digs
May 11, 2009
so, i’m up in the loftic (loft+attic) and it is pretty awesome. it has very, very bright natural light from the front window and two skylights. i’ve woken up at 7am each morning from the morning light–especially because my bed is facing the window (awesome!)–but have managed to go right back to sleep, so far! the ceilings are quite low, but it is manageable. i only bump my head a couple of times a day. we’re working on the downstairs now, too, trying to get it all organized, clean and decorated. i’m always finding new home projects! maybe someday it will be on my own house!
for now, i am very happy here, with a full kitchen, awesome roomies (lucia and nino) and a gorgeous loftic. complete with a non-collapsing closet!
here are some pictures!
stay still…live in the same place for more than 6 months!
yard and dresser
December 10, 2008
so, my yard has beautiful purple flowers in it right now! and i got a dresser…finally! it is the perfect size for my partment, and has great pulls! it is solid wood, and is in great condition. it was $25 on craigslist! hell yeah. so, the question now is whether to paint it…and if so, what color. currently, it’s a pretty cool shade of green that’s a complementary shade to my walls, and somehow goes with the suitcase and metal file cabinet thing i have next to it! but it is “distressed” and might look nice all freshly painted. but then, what color? black laquer would look kinda sweet, leaving the pulls the same as they are…or white, spray the pulls black…whaddya think? either way, it’s nice to have a place to put my undies! need to rearrange my mirror/chair situation a little, but it is a vast improvement in the clothing storage department of my partment…

ooh, and thanks again to renee, who got me a bitchin vintage brownie starmeter camera because she loves me! and to christine because she got me a bitchin fisheye camera because she loves me! and thanks to jordan who put a whale in my early thanksgiving-christmas stocking because he loves me…i strangely love it!

stay still…and watch the flowers. and the whales.(?)
my partment (really, it’s only part of an apartment…)
November 1, 2008
so, here it is! my whole 150 square feet! it’s actually pretty cozy, and the yard is great. somehow i need to cram a dresser in here…guess i’ll figure that one out later. i was always fond of tetris…
*the pictures are a little out of order…i’ll try to fix them later!
more soon—neighborhood stuff, my crazy Real Genius closet, the yard….i’m workin’ on it!
stay still…enjoy the space you’re in for a moment.
paint colors and visitors
September 30, 2008
so, i’m trying to decide exactly what color to paint my widdle apawtment (blake seems to think that it’s more like 200 square feet, not 350! ack!) and i’m thinking a bright turquoise or teal color! i just need to make sure not to make it too dark, so it doesn’t make my tiny place seem tinier! but i think it would look good with some fresh white trim and a white kitchenette/bathroom area. pile on the artwork that i have all on one wall and i think it will look cozy and fresh! i hope… i’ll get the keys this week sometime and go scope it out again! ooh, and take real measurements so i can share just how small it really is with you guys!
that, and i’m super excited to see matt and casey innie this week! yay friends! wanna help me paint?
stay still, i have to see if you’ll fit into my apartment…
i got an apartment!!!
September 17, 2008
so, after weeks of crashing at blake’s and searching for an apartment that takes dogs (of which there are 3) i have finally found an aparment! it’s tiny—like, really tiny! but it has indoor plumbing! and all bills included, and storage and a washer/dryer and the lady who lives in the house above me (this is an “in-law” unit) seems really cool! and, the best part–it has a front yard!!! so jackson has room to roam (and poop) and hang out so he’s not confined to the 350 square foot (i really think it’s about that size!) room that i’m renting! also, it’s in a pretty cool part of town. kind of like the east side in austin—lots of taquerias, and lots of cool hole-in-the-wall bars.
so, ikea, here i come! they can show me how to live in the tiniest place imaginable! ryan and renee, i’m remembering the time you guys sat in one of the fake apartments in ikea and invited people to come in, take a seat, make themselves at home! and thank god i sold all my furniture, cuz that shit ain’t fitting in here, folks!
i’ll take pictures once i’m in and make the place pretty! i get to move in just after October 1st…then i have to work some magic on the place! ooh, project!
here’s a picture of the facade from the street—the one i got is behind the wooden fence. it’s great, there’s a whole garden/yard area with these gorgeous blooming trees and a little patio set (i think i’ll call the patio my living room!) and the house is set back from the street.
woo hoo!
stay still…things will settle themselves in time.
may i please just have your house?
