so here is the part where i stay in san francisco, despite a very reasonable and amazing plan to return to austin. here’s the part where i feel that i will regret leaving this city just as i really feel that i am getting to know it. without the 2 hour commute to a shitty job and a boyfriend that occupies at least a minimal amount of my time. here is the part where i scare the shit out of myself because i quit my job a month ago and don’t, yet, have another one!

but here is also the part where i really do try as hard as i can, with all of the creative energy in my body, and all of the ambitious determination i can muster, to find my way here in san francisco. i will push until i run out of money or energy. (and then i will push a little more). and then we will see what happens.

now is not the time to stay still. now is the time to climb to the top of the tower.

music, breakfast and leases

September 22, 2008

it was a good weekend! although my weekend is sunday/monday….

spent the day at the Treasure Island Music Festival yesterday, which was a smaller, more intimate version of ACL (or at least i keep telling myself that!) the biggest difference? that it was gorgeous—chilly at times—not a buzillion degrees! we set up a blanket between the two stages, camped out, and went back and forth for the handful of great bands all day! the fleet foxes were great (although better at the Mohawk with the ladies a few months ago!) vampire weekend sounded better than i thought they would, was introduced to Port O’Brien and The Kills who were great, and the Raconteurs rocked my face off! we rode the ferris wheel which gave us a gorgeous view of San Francisco and the bay, got a free silkscreened scarf, ate carnie food and laid in the 70 degree weather listening to great music. aah.

today, woke up and jackson and took a long walk into downtown san mateo, stop and ate breakfast outside and read the paper, and ambled back to do laundry and clean blake’s house. then, i went and had dinner with my new landlord to sign my lease. she’s great! i have the kind of feeling talking to her that i have when i meet someone i’m pretty sure i’ll end up being good friends with. she’s about my age, has an exceptionally polite, smart and handsome 7 year old son, and she’s super cool! so i’ve signed my lease! it’s contractually binding and i’m pumped! so i’ll move in the first weekend of october and i’m already plotting and scheming about paint colors and ikea ephemera…

so, back to work tomorrow, but it was a good weekend.

have fun at ACL y’all!

stay still…or rock your face off!

so, i’m missing ACLfest this weekend. that is pretty much killing me right now. i don’t even really want to talk about it. seriously. i’m changing the subject now. i do, however, get to go to the Treasure Island Music Festival! heck yeah with the fleet foxes! word em up with dr. dog!snap! with john vanderslice! it should make for a nice day off and (sort of) replacement for ACLfest… ugh. not talking about it. again.

stay still…you can’t go to ACL–you just can’t.

boom.
